Position Title: CMM Programmer/QA Tech Job #1275

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.Program, start and operate Coordinate Measuring Machine.
2.Analyze and interpret blueprints, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required.
3.Revise programs to maximize efficiency, and retest programs to check that corrections have been completed.
4.Determine reference points, or hole locations, and compute angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures.
5.Compare computer printouts with original part specifications and blueprints to verify manufacturing accuracy.
6.Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, and work for conformance to specifications.
7.Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
8.Discard or reject products, materials, and equipment not meeting specifications.
9.Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products, and recommend necessary corrective actions.
10.Record inspection or test data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, or moisture content, and quantities inspected or graded.
11.Mark items with details such as grade and acceptance or rejection status.
12.Observe and monitor CMM operations and equipment to ensure conformance to specifications and make necessary process or assembly adjustments.
13.Analyze test data and make computations as necessary to determine test results.
14.Collect or select samples for testing or for use as models.
15.Compare colors, shapes, textures, or grades of products or materials with color charts, templates, or samples to verify conformance to standards.
16.Write test and inspection reports and procedures, describing results or necessary steps, recommendations, and needed repairs.
17.Train others to operate CMM.
18.Coordinates with internal customers to schedule CMM inspections and maximize work flow.
19.Read dials and meters to verify that equipment is functioning at specified levels.
20.Adjust, clean, or repair processing equipment to correct defects found during inspections.
21.Clean, maintain, repair, and calibrate measuring instruments and test equipment such as dial indicators, fixed gauges, and height gauges.
22.Stack and arrange tested products for further processing, shipping, or packaging and transport products to other work stations as necessary.
23.Position products, components, or parts for testing.
24.Make minor adjustments to equipment, such as turning setscrews to calibrate instruments to required tolerances.
25.Compute defect percentages or averages, using formulas and calculators, and prepare reports of inspection or test findings.
26.Identify and implement improvements in equipment design to enhance performance of the CMM.
27.Interface with Engineers and Machinists to transfer CAD generated drawings into measurement programs without assistance
28.Supports 5S by cleaning machines, tooling, parts and all associated work areas, using solvents or solutions and rags.

29. Other duties may be assigned

Education and Experience
high school graduate
5 years experience in programming and operating CMM(s).
Associates degree in related technical field
5 years experience in Quality inspection, including CMM programming and operation using Calypso and PCDMS software.
